Little Fish Designs Review and Giveaway

I have just recently become a personalized-jewelry junkie. I have a few pieces, and each one is a stunning, one-of-a-kind work of art, that means something special to me. The great thing about personalized jewelry is that not only are they unique, but, more than likely, the jewelry will become family heirlooms, being passed through generations. It gives me chills!

Today, I would like to introduce Little Fish Designs, where you can find some of the most unique jewelry I have seen (and some really amazing invitations, cards, announcements, etc). You can find everything from cool to funky to sweet, depending on what you are looking for. But the personalized necklace I was lucky to receive goes beyond your typical hand-stamped disc.
Amy from Little Fish Designs created this gorgeous and amazing custom photo necklace using one of my favorite family photos. It's black and white, and on the back says, "Family." The necklace is accented with a "LOVE" charm and a white swarovski bead. There is actual glass in the framed photo, so I can carry my own personal picture wherever I go. I love, love, love my necklace, but I do feel a little weird wearing my own face around my neck. Haha! Can I just say that a Little Fish Designs necklace would make a fabulous Mother's Day gift!

Win It:
One lucky Mommy Loves Giveaways reader will win a 1x1 Custom Photo Necklace too!!

I'm still here!!

Ohmygosh you guys! My new schedule is totally kicking my butt! I'm so exhausted, that I can barely type. And on my days off, I just want to relax with my boys. I'm so sorry! I have several giveaways that need winners, but I'm having issues. I lost the comments on the older ones when I switched my domain. So now I have to go back into my email and do a manual count. Boo!!! I also have lots more reviews and giveaways to write up. I haven't abandoned you! :o)

Cleverly Gifted Review and Giveaway

I am thrilled to introduce to you, Cleverly Gifted, an online women's boutique, created to help you find that perfect gift for the special women in your life. Cleverly Gifted has done the hard work for you, and picked the very best gifts they could find, and sorted the gifts so you can search gifts by the category you need. It's a great way to save time, but I was so intrigued that I ended up looking at every single item anyway.

Cleverly Gifted contacted me about doing a giveaway. Of course I was thrilled, after a quick browsing of the store. It was so hard to pick from all their amazing products, but I narrowed down my list, and Cleverly Gifted was generous enough to send me three products to review.

I received the Mosaic Fleece Lined Stroller Blanket. I was drawn to the bright colors and the fun pattern. When I opened the package, I was surprised by the size. It's bigger than normal baby blankets, and the inner fleece side is so soft. Even the outside, which is cotton sateen twill, is so nice to touch. I love everything about it.

The second product I received was
the Fabric Baby Blocks. I wanted a set of fabric blocks when Max was younger, but I couldn't find any I liked. These adorable blocks from Dwell Studio feature letters, numbers, shapes, patterns, and fabrics, in soft pink, blue, brown, and white. They are so sweet, and the perfect stimulating, learning toy for little ones. They even come in a matching storage bag.

Finally, I received this Bamboo Blanket Gift Set. It comes with a blanket, hat, and socks, all made from bamboo, which is one of the softest materials I've ever felt in my life. Its the perfect material for newborn skin. I think the colors are very sweet and complimentary to each other. I just wish it included a onesie to match the hat and socks. A perfect gift for a new baby.

Win It:
One lucky Mommy Loves Giveaways reader will win a $50 gift certificate from Cleverly Gifted!!

PlanToys Trimino Bugs Review

Children's toys today are nothing like what we played with as children. They are made with cheap plastic, with small and dangerous parts, and don't even get me started with all the batteries we have to buy! In my childhood development classes in college, we talked about how children learn through imaginative play. Toys today tend to have too many bells and whistles, and I really think that we need to get back to the basics.

PlanToys does just that. They create toys for children that are not only safe for both children and the environment, but they support open-ended and creative play that helps with growth and learning.

I had the honor of testing one of PlanToys new products from their 2010 line, the Trimino Bugs. The set comes with nine colored, triangle-shaped tiles with red, blue, and yellow half-circle "bugs" and five plain wooden platforms, some with lines across them forming triangles.

My favorite thing about the Trimino Bugs is that the possibilities are endless. For now, Max is too young to do any kind of structured activities, so he has fun playing and stacking the pieces. He loves the colors, and will line the edges of the pieces together. As he gets older, we can practice matching the "bugs" and learn colors. You can even do more advanced task for children by laying out the plain pieces, and having the child place the colored tiles on top forming different patterns, or find the "missing" tile, etc.

Unfortunately, I couldn't get any good pictures of Max playing with the Trimino Bugs. Isn't that just the way children are though? So uncooperative... But anyway, I highly recommend visiting PlanToys to find more developmental, educational, wooden, and baby toys that I promise will not disappoint you or your child. I already have several PlanToy items on my list for Max's birthday. (Also, can I point out that not only are wooden toys adorable, but they will last through all your children, and then their children, and probably their children. Just sayin'.)

Wordless(ish) Wednesday

Oh gosh, so much of this picture cracks me up. First, Max was in the middle of taking off his pants, for some reason. This process can take like 15 minutes, so they are still around his ankles. Then he picks up his remote control and says, "hello" (or his version of "hello" anyway) like he's taking a call. Finally, I love how he is holding out his other hand, as if to say, "Not now, Mom, I'm on the phone." Or maybe he's saying, "No paparazzi!" I wonder how much the tabloids pay for scandalous photos these days? :o)

Random Tuesday (Kind Of)

Today's Random Tuesday is more like an Update Tuesday.

This week is crazy for me. It's my first week starting back to "full time" at work, even though it's not 40 hours. I'm going from 8 hours to about 25. Max starts daycare for the first time ever. And I have a job interview tomorrow.

I am TIRED, so this week I won't be posting much. I get home just in time to take over and be mommy, and my feet ache. I've also been trying to be a good friend and take Max on playdates.

Did I mention I'm tired? :o)

Mattress Giant Natura Pillow Review and Giveaway

I am a very picky sleeper. I have to have pillows and blankets just so or I absolutely cannot sleep. This includes about three separate pillows arranged around my head, and there are three blankets, depending on how warm I want to be. Seriously people, I'm a freak.

Mattress Giant, one of the nation's largest bedding retailers, was kind enough to send me a Natura pillow to review. They sent me the NaturaPedic Back Sleeper Ultimate Contour Pillow. The pillow has a memory foam core, so it contours to your head and neck, helping to align your spine and give pressure relief. I have never had a pillow that was this nice, so I had high expectations. Luckily I was not let down. My first impression was I could not believe how soft it was. The liner is made with a soft, plush terry, and it feels so nice. The memory foam is amazing! It has by far, become my favorite pillow. Unfortunately, my boys love it too, and there is a nice chocolate stain on one side. Ahhh, the joys of motherhood (and wifedom). Here are some more features:

•Ergonomically contoured Natura Pedic memory foam core
•Unbleached, soft terry cotton cover; removable for easy care
•Temperature regulating Natura Smart Wool™ lining
•Cervical contour supports natural curves of head, neck and shoulders
•Natura Smart Wool™ lining wicks away moisture for a clean, allergen-free sleep
•Naturally antimicrobial, hypoallergenic and dust mite resistant
•Promotes tension-free sleep and helps muscles relax
•Sleep comfortably in any position with proper support

Win It:
One lucky Mommy Loves Giveaways reader will win a Natura pillow from Mattress Giant too!!

Vat19: The Original Slush Mug Review and Giveaway

If you've never been to Vat19, then I insist you go there right now. It's okay, I'll wait, while you look around. Vat19 is home to some of the most creative and interesting "things" you will ever see. If you need a gift for that person in your life, who has everything, I promise you will find the perfect item at Vat19. Some of the items that caught my eye include the Aquanotes Waterproof Notepad, Edge Brownie Pan, and, of course, the World's Largest Gummy Bear.
Vat19 sent me the Original Slush Mug to review. The Original Slush Mug turns any drink into a slushee! No need to add ice or use a blender. The cup uses a frozen insert (Glaciercore) to turn any naturally sweetened drink into a slushee in minutes. It's pretty simple to use, and kids would have a blast creating their slushees. You put the frozen Glaciercore into the mug and pour in your drink of choice. Every few minutes, you gently scrape the ice off the inside of the Glaciercore until you reach the consistency you want. You get to choose the amount of "slush." I love that I can have the gas station-pop-slushee any time I want. :o)

Here is a little picture represention of how easy it was, so easy, I used one hand to fix my slushee, and the other hand to take pictures. I'm talented. :o)

And a little video of the Original Slush Mug in action:

Random Tuesday

randomtuesday

I'm finally getting over my stupid sinus infection. It's lasted FOREVER and I've been miserable. But, finally, I think it's getting better.

At least three of my friends have announced their pregnancy on Facebook and I want to be pregnant too!! *Stamping feet*

I think the internet sucks, because it allows people to be completely rude by saying things to people that they wouldn't normally say in person. The lack of face-to-face interaction has corrupted us.

The internet and texting have also ruined me. I hate talking on the phone, and I'm terrible with small talk. I need help.

Still on track with my Project 365. One whole week down, 51 to go.

This week, I will be buying my domain name. Yikes!! I'm excited though. My little baby will finally be legite. Awww... it's like my bloggy baby is growing up.

Okay I'm done.

Mommy and Me Monday

Mommy and Me Monday at Really, Are You Serious?
Hosted by Krystyn
Two weeks in a row! My husband just happened to catch this sweet moment. Max is all about the kisses, and he was giving me kisses through the baby gate, while I was cooking dinner one night last week. I love it.

I ♥ Faces - Bundled Up

I don't participate with I ♥ Faces every week, but this week's theme is "Bundled Up" and I instantly thought of Max's first time playing in the snow. He had so much fun, and I got a lot of great pictures and memories, that I just couldn't pass this one up.

Tutus for a Great Cause

My good friend, Erin, is raising money for Relay for Life. This month, she is selling super-duper cute purple tutus for the cause. Keep in mind that if you buy a tutu from an online boutique, you could be paying double or triple the amount. Plus, it's always nice to support a good cause. Here is her information:

Celebrate, Remember, Fight Back
A quick run down....I'm on a team, The Sunblockers, for Vallejo's Relay for Life. For those that are not familiar, Relay for Life is the American Cancer Society's main fundraiser. It involves teams "relaying" around a track for 24 hours, to symbolize the around the clock fight cancer survivors and their care givers deal with every day. For more information check out What Relay For Life is

So, in my quest to raise funds for my Relay For Life Team, I am going to do a fundraiser once a month. I know it's difficult in these times to just be able to donate money, many of us need some sort of bang for our buck. There for, my intention is that each of my fundraisers will give you something, while allowing you to support a great cause.

For the month of March I will be making & selling Purple Tutus. Purple being RFL's color. So here is the rundown.

-Ages 0-3 years old - $15
-Ages 4-preteen - $18
any age other then that or special orders let me know & I'll work with you!

-Your choice of colors - Regular purple or a light (lilac) purple, or for an additional $2 I can do a combo of both. They will come with a purple ribbon bow.
-Waist measurement, if this is not possible, I will make according to my size chart. These are made with an elastic band so they will stretch.

These are great for photo ops, dress up & Easter fun.

These types of Tutu's retail for a bit more on Etsy.com and fairs, some as much as $30 or even higher. Not only are you getting a deal, but all profits, approximately 60% will be going to the American Cancer Society.

I can ship these, so this is not just for my local friends. Shipping charges based on USPS will be $4.90

Turn around time on your order will be about 1 -2 weeks, plus additional time for shipping.

Payment Options:
By credit card, you can go directly to my RFL site and make a donation there, however, if you need it shipped, I do need to have shipping charges payed via paypal.

By Paypal, my address is elindke@hotmail.com

By cash (if you are local) just email me and we will set that up.
See, I'm super flexible in getting your little girl in an adorable tutu while helping you support ACS!

This is an example of the tutu in the light (lilac) purple color as shown by Ms. Riley on her first birthday. The next one is of both girls from Christmas time, but they are in pink (this is offer is just for purple). But you can see how nice & full they are!

Sunday Spotlight- Reading Frenzy

It's Sunday, which means another spotlighted blog. This week, please go visit LuAnn at Reading Frenzy and check out her book reviews!

Name: LuAnn Morgan

Blog Name: Reading Frenzy

How long have you been blogging? 2 years

What is your blog about? Books, lots of books! I am an avid reader and have a massive TBR shelf. Those books pop up on my blog now and then, but my focus lately has been reviews for publishers and publicity agencies. It's a great opportunity to read some new books and report on my thoughts about them. There are so many new books entering the market every month and it's sometimes difficult to know which ones are worth reading. I truly enjoy offering some recommendations for other readers by sharing my own thoughts about a few of those books. I try to talk about what I found most interesting so others can decide if the book is one they might enjoy. Likewise, if there is something that really bothered me about a particular book, I mention that, too. That way, a reader won't be taken by surprise.

What do you love about blogging? The best thing about blogging has been the wonderful friends I've met out there in the blogging world. We are a group of people who all love books and everyone is so supportive of each other. I also enjoy having the opportunity to share my thoughts on books with others.

Something interesting and unknown about you or your blog: I'm a freelance writer -- well, I guess most people know that. Most of my writing is in journalism, which is often pretty serious stuff! It's also a field where my writing has to be unbiased. Blogging lets me break out of that mold and enter a different world where I can share my own thoughts and ideas. And I think we all need that now and then!

Anything you want to add: I'd like to thank all the other bloggers and my followers for being so supportive. They are so wonderful and I love them all!

3 Favorite Blogs you like to visit : Gosh, there are so many to choose from. I have a huge list I follow, but here a few I make sure to check out regularly.

PlaSmart Yummy Dough Review and Giveaway

PlaSmart is an award-winning toy distributor. I know I, for one, have heard of their famous PlasmaCar, but I hadn't heard of some others. That's why I am so excited to share one of their other great toy ideas, Yummy Dough.

I received a box of Yummy Dough from PlaSmart to review. I grabbed the husband to get in on the action. The directions were really easy to follow. You just pour the powder mix into a bowl, add the water, mix until crumbly, and then knead to get the dough to the right consistency. From there, you and your little ones can get creative. Yummy Dough is completely edible, which is great, because you know kids are going to end up with some of it in their mouth, anyway. After you mold your dough, you can then bake it, which gives you a kind of cookie. I tried the dough raw, and baked, and I did prefer the baked dough. This is a great activity for a rainy day, and I don't know any kid who doesn't love to play with modeling dough. You can learn more from the Yummy Dough blog or the PlaSmart blog.

One lucky Mommy Loves Giveaways reader will win a box of Yummy Dough from PlaSmart!

Enstrom's Almond Toffee Review and Giveaway

I am so excited to introduce you to Enstrom's Almond Toffee. This world-famous candy is still handmade after nearly 60 years, and the business is still run by the same family, three generations later.I was lucky enough to receive a box of Enstrom's Milk Chocolate Almond Toffee. I can't even begin to explain the deliciousness that happened in my mouth. The toffee is made with real almonds throughout. I'm not talking about a few almonds here and there. There is practically a whole almond in every bite! And if that wasn't good enough, the toffee is coated in milk chocolate and layered with crushed almonds. *sigh* Didn't you just die and go to heaven just reading that? Try eating it.

Random Tuesday

randomtuesday

I missed Random Tuesday last week, but let's face it, we all know I'm not a consistent poster. Look at my giveaways: Some days I get 1-2 up every day, and some weeks, you are lucky if you get 1 every 2 or 3 days. Whatever. I do the best that I can, and sometimes, I'm just feeling lazy.

I started yet another project (what the hell am I thinking?)- Project 365. One picture a day for 365 days. You can check it out if you want, but I'm only on Day 2, so it's not very exciting right now. I'm working towards creating a coffee book table of my project.

I have a sinus infection. Yuck! My entire head aches and I just feel like crap. Booooo.

We bought Max a potty chair. He's not ready for potty training, but I want him to be used to seeing the chair around. He put the seat on his head and his foot in the bowl. He's not ready to potty train.

Last night, Max slapped me across the face and I laughed. So there's that.

It really was funny.

My head hurts, and that's all the random I can think of right now. Thanks for reading!
