Summer Vacation...

I am so enjoying my summer vacation! It's the first time everyone, even daddy, is on vacation! I have to admit I getting a little spoiled too, my husband has been helping with the cleaning and has pretty much been doing all the cooking. I could get use to this!

The only problem I'm having is finding activities to do with my 7 year old. We've taken him to the museum, the beach (and plan on going a few more times), the library but are running out of things to do.

How do you keep your kids occupied during the summer? What are some free things families can do together?

  1. Check your local craft stores, like Michaels, to see what kinds of programs they offer. There are usually some craft classes for free/cheap.

You could go roller skating or ice skating, go for a picnic, go to the zoo, go to a playground, "camp" indoors or in the backyard, go volunteer at a local shelter and play with animals... Just a few things off the top of my head!

Is there another city close enough that you could have a day trip and go visit their tourist attractions?

  3. We spend a lot of time outside in the yard. The kids love hiking in the woods. We also have a volleyball net. Sometimes we go to the lake too. If it's really hot outside, they like to go inside to a mountain climbing wall.

  4. Have you tried visiting some local parks in your area? I have discovered so many great ones I never knew existed. We have a blast going to a different one each week!
    Enjoy your summer!

  7. As long as I can sing, babygirl stays pretty occupied :) Otherwise parks and small town festivals (at least they are free to walk through and look around)

Also we watch for family free days or discounted days.

  8. We love to go on evening walks around the neighborhood. One stop along the way that we HAVE to do is the playground at a local school. No one is ever there so my daughter loves to play there! :)
