Summer Vacation...

I am so enjoying my summer vacation! It's the first time everyone, even daddy, is on vacation! I have to admit I getting a little spoiled too, my husband has been helping with the cleaning and has pretty much been doing all the cooking. I could get use to this!

The only problem I'm having is finding activities to do with my 7 year old. We've taken him to the museum, the beach (and plan on going a few more times), the library but are running out of things to do.

How do you keep your kids occupied during the summer? What are some free things families can do together?

Cute Jewelry from Very

I'm a girly girl. I like the color pink and anything that sparkles. I like purses, make up, and of course jewelry! Necklaces are my favorite piece of jewelry. I was recently introduced to an online store named Very, and I'm so loving their jewelry. They have so many cute eye catching pieces!

Here are a few of my favorite pieces from their store:

I love the French Connection necklace, it's so stylish and I think it'll look great on anyone. I also like the Mixed Stud and Weave bangle set, they look so cool, I want them! The Silver Double heart bangle is also really cute, perfect for those who like the dainty look. These are just some of the great pieces of jewelry that Very has to offer, they have tons more on their website.

I'm really impressed with Very's jewelry line, everything is hip and unique. I especially like that their jewelry is not targeted to a certain age group. Most of the pieces I see can be worn by teens and moms! Now that I'm getting older, I can definitely tell when an outfit or a piece of jewelry is "too young" for me. I just wish Very's website also listed their prices in US currency, since I have no idea how much their jewelry costs!

Disclaimer: Brought to you by your friends at Very. However, all opinions are my own.

Melissa and Doug Sand Toys Giveaway!

I'm so happy it's summer! Although I don't enjoy the hot weather too much, I love going to the beach with my family. We went last week and had so much fun making sand castles! I plan on going a few more times, especially now that we have some awesome new sand toys from Melissa & Doug's Sunny Patch Sand Toys collection.

My kids are so loving their new Melissa and Doug sand toys, and I think they are super cute. Pictured above are the Seaside Sidekicks Sand Molding set and the Sand Cupcake set. They are really cute and colorful. My kids loved molding the sand into sea creatures and cupcakes! What I love about them is the quality. When I first saw that the Clicker Crab Pal and Shovel set was $9.99 I thought it was a little pricey, but after feeling how heavy and sturdy it was, I know it's worth it. We just bought my son a pal and shovel set (for cheap and not even close to as cute as the Clicker Crab) and the handle on the pal broke the SAME day!

All of the Melissa and Doug toys we received are very high quality. Pictured above are the Clicker Crab Pal and Shovel set and the Seaside Sand Baking set. The baking set even comes with a whisk and measuring cups. I really like how unique the Melissa and Doug sand toys are, there Seaside Baking set and Seaside Cupcake set are so awesome! They really get the kids imagination going, and I love watching them play. The baking sets are my favorite, especially the cupcake set, because really who doesn't love cupcakes?!

You can sign up for Melissa and Doug's Toy and Birthday club to receive great offers through email. When you sign up you'll get a 10% off your next order coupon sent to your email!

One VERY lucky Mommy Loves Giveaways reader will win all FOUR of the Melissa and Doug Sunny Patch Sand Toys listed above ($50 value)!!!

Sorry! Sliders: Cars 2 Review & Giveaway!

I love playing games with my family. It's always fun and it's a great way to spend time with the kids. With Cars 2 coming to theaters soon, Hasbro has a brand new line of "Cars 2"games, which include Operation, Sorry! Sliders, and Monopoly. I received the Sorry! Sliders: Cars 2 Edition game for review, and my boys and I LOVE IT!!
"Bump and race your way to victory in the "Cars 2" World Grand Prix! Bring the racing experience of the movie to life with Sorry! Sliders: Cars 2 Edition, the game of sweet revenge. Customize your racetrack, from a circular course to a track full of twists and turns, and race around the world! Speed through Radiator Springs, Tokyo, London, and more, and try to bump opponents back to "Start" while trying to avoid oil spills, traffic cones, and radiation spaces."
My son loves that the Sorry! Sliders: Cars 2 game is a race car track instead of just a regular board game. He thinks it's so cool, and so do I! The race track itself really puts a spin on the game because you can change it up each time you play. I can't stop telling people how neat this game is! It really is a hit with boys, my son has played it with a couple of his friends and all of them just love it.

One lucky Mommy Loves Giveaway reader will win a Sorry! Sliders: Cars 2 Edition game of their own!

Nursing: A popular career choice

I've always known nursing to be a popular career choice for many in my community, but I never realized how much in demand it actually is. There aren't many jobs available right now in my community, but there are a high number of nursing positions. From the Classifieds to Craigslist (for my town) there are always jobs available for CNA's, LVN's, and RN'S. Wherever I'm in town I'm always bound to see someone wearing medical scrubs. The cool thing about medical scrubs now is that they come in all kinds of different colors and characters. I've seen some really cute women's scrub pants. Sometimes I think nursing is a field I should have considered, since there are so many openings in my community, but honestly I could never see myself working in the medical field. It's just not for me.

Hopefully soon, we'll have a nurse of our own, in our family. My sister in law is working hard to become a nurse, and I know she'll make a good one. I know she can't wait until the day she graduates from the nursing program.

Is there a particular career that is popular in your community or is thriving even during these times of high unemployment? I'd love to hear about them.

Unique Father's Day Gift Idea

Father's Day is coming up and I know many people still need to buy gifts, myself included! I recently came across a website called Adrenaline, that gives normal folks a chance to drive race cars, bungy jump, and even fly a jet fighter!

Adrenaline offers really cool corporate men gifts. One of my favorite gift ideas is the super car driving experience. My husband has always wanted to drive a race car, so being able to drive a race car around a track, would be a dream come true for him. I personally love the Titanic Dive Expedition, but sadly it's way out of my price range! How neat would that be though?! The website is based in Australia but if you visit the website you see that everything is listed in US currency. I know Australia sounds far, but for those who love to travel, this would be a fun gift to give.

If you don't plan to go to Australia anytime soon or aren't much of an adrenaline junky, I still like the idea of giving a memorable gift. Planning a camping trip or going to the shooting range, are good ways to spend time with your dad or husband. Spending time with your loved ones and showing them how much you care is really what Father's Day is all about.

Are you done buying a gift for dad? Have any good suggestions or ideas? I'd love to hear them!

My husband, the not so good plumber!

Last weekend our bathroom sink became clogged. I didn't know what clogged it or how it happened, but the water in the sink wouldn't drain at all. I called my husband to tell him he needed to check it out. My husband has a lot of good strengths, but not when it comes to being a handy man or plumber. Nevertheless, he got all his tools together to check out the sink and got to work. He tried using the snake, but that didn't work, so he had to pull the sink out from the wall. As soon as he pulled the sink from the wall, gunky nasty water spilled out everywhere! The bathroom smelled horrible, my poor hubby was sweating but continued to work threw the mess. I'm not lying, when I tell you it took over six hours for him to fix the sink, it pretty much was an all day event. We ended up finding out that the sink was clogged with huge wads of hair! The funny thing is, it wasn't even my hair but my husbands (he has long curly hair)! After spending the whole day fixing the sink, he told me the next time the sink gets clogged, we're calling a plumber!

Do you have any plumbing horror stories to share? I'd love to hear them!

The Help Featurette

I am sooooooo EXCITED to see "The Help." I read the book a few years back and I loved it! I literally finished it in two days because it was so good, I just couldn't put it down. "The Help" opens in theaters everywhere on August 12, 2011.

Based on one of the most talked about books in years and a #1 New York Times best-selling phenomenon, “The Help” stars Emma Stone (“Easy A”) as Skeeter, Academy Award®–nominated Viola Davis (“Doubt”) as Aibileen and Octavia Spencer as Minny—three very different, extraordinary women in Mississippi during the 1960s, who build an unlikely friendship around a secret writing project that breaks societal rules and puts them all at risk. From their improbable alliance a remarkable sisterhood emerges, instilling all of them with the courage to transcend the lines that define them, and the realization that sometimes those lines are made to be crossed—even if it means bringing everyone in town face-to-face with the changing times.

Deeply moving, filled with poignancy, humor and hope, “The Help” is a timeless and universal story about the ability to create change.

Based on one of the most talked about books in years and a #1 New York Times best-selling phenomenon, “The Help” is a provocative and inspiring look at what happens when a southern town’s unspoken code of rules and behavior is shattered by three courageous women who strike up an unlikely friendship.

Dreaming of a house, patio, and lounge furniture!

Recently my husband and I have begun house hunting. It's really exciting and scary at the same time! We saw a house a few weeks back, that I can't stop thinking about. It had a fireplace, 5 bedrooms, a huge master bedroom, and a gorgeous patio. The patio is what grabbed my attention, it was beautiful. I've always planned on having a patio, but I never imagined having one so nice and modern. It had huge ceramic tiles instead of a cement floor and drapes that could be closed for privacy or to block out the sun. I can only imagine how much more beautiful it would look decorated with lounge furniture.

I think patio's are great for entertaining, and having fabulous lounge furniture makes them even better. I'd love to have some modern lounge chairs, since I like to have drinks with my bestie on the weekends. Imagine how much fun we'd have lounging by the pool sipping on mixed drinks. Wait! Who am I kidding, we both have kids! Ok, so we'd be lounging by the pool drinking tea and watching our kids play. Either way we'd have a great time! As wonderful as it all sounds, it's still nerve wracking to think about having a mortgage. So we haven't made any offers yet, but it sure is nice to imagine the possibilities!

Daddy Loves You Book Review and Giveaway!

My son seriously needs a new book shelf, it's overflowing with books! I loved reading when I was growing up, so I like make sure my kids have lots of reading book. The latest book added to his collection is Daddy Loves You.

Daddy Loves You
by Clint Arthur is a simple but sweet book about the love of a father for his child. The story isn't overly sappy, and kids will like the humorous parts. There were a few pages were my son was giggling and laughing out loud! It's perfect for beginning readers, because it's easy to read and isn't very long.

I think Daddy Loves You is a cute book. The illustrations look like real artwork from young children, which I believe makes the book even more sentimental. Daddy Loves You is a perfect bedtime story, especially if it's read by dad!

One lucky Mommy Loves Giveaways reader will win a copy of Daddy Loves You.

Where to buy: You can purchase Daddy Loves You at Amazon. If you'd like to know more about Clint Arthur you can find him on Facebook.
To Win:
Mandatory entry: Follow Mommy Loves Giveaways on Google Friend Connect.

Chuao Chocolatier Review and Giveaway!

I love chocolate! Chocolate cake, chocolate candy, chocolate covered strawberries, you get the picture! So when I was asked to review some chocolate candy you bet I jumped on it! Chuao Chocolatier is the first Venezuelan chocolatier in the United States. They provide artisan chocolate with unique and unusual flavor combinations. Here's an example of one of their unique combinations in the Spicy Maya Chocolate:
"Feel your throat warm and your nose tickle with each mouthful of Spicy Maya dark chocolate bar. Infused with a hint of Pasilla chile, cayenne pepper and cinnamon."
I received three chocolate bars for review, Honeycomb, Panko, and Firecracker. I took them over to my moms house to share with my family, I thought it would be fun to try out the unique flavors and get everyone's input.
Honeycomb- Premium dark chocolate with caramelized honey. Everyone in my family loved Honeycomb. I liked the flavor of the dark chocolate combined with the crunchy caramelized honey. It was delicious! The chocolate bars are pretty big, I would say around a king size chocolate bar.

Panko-Premium dark chocolate with toasted panko bread crumbs and sea salt. Panko came in second with my family. It has a nice sweet and salty mix to it. Different but not bad. It's not as sweet as the honeycomb, but still good!

Firecracker- Premium dark chocolate with chipotle, salt, and popping candy. My family didn't care for Firecracker. Nobody liked the chipotle flavor at the end. Even though Firecracker was not my favorite, I thought it was the most unique. Firecracker started off tasting sweet from the dark chocolate and then started crackling in my mouth. Just like Pop rocks! The chipotle flavor kicked in at the end when I started to swallow, and it was spicy! Not super hot, but it went down warm. I really enjoyed the mix of chocolate and popping candy, even the warm tingling feeling it left in my mouth, but I think we would've all liked it better without the chipotle flavor.

One lucky Mommy Loves Giveaway reader will be winning three chocolate bars to try out for themselves!

Where to buy: You can purchase unique chocolate bars and other chocolate goodies at Chuao Chocolatier.
To Win:
Mandatory entry: Follow Mommy Loves Giveaways on Google Friend Connect and let me know in a comment which flavor you'd like to try, along with your name and email.
